New Department of Justice Director General announced

Kylie Maj has been appointed as the next Director General of the Western Australian Department of Justice.

Kylie Maj has been appointed as the next Director General of the Western Australian Department of Justice.

Ms Maj's appointment is for five years commencing 28 June 2024.

Ms Maj is an accomplished senior executive who has worked in critical leadership roles within the public sector for more than two decades.

As Deputy Director General Strategic Reform, Ms Maj has been driving evidence-based justice reforms in WA from concept to delivery and leading important social policy initiatives.

Ms Maj established the Legislative Services directorate, convened the Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee and developed the Family and Domestic Violence Strategic Framework.

Outside the Department, her senior roles at the Office of the Auditor General, Ombudsman WA and the Department of the Premier and Cabinet also centred on complex justice matters.
